Christmas Prize Draw! Win one of 5 signed Brian Cox books

We’re working towards gender equality in the sciences, and are not at all surprised that there are lots of guys who care about that as well as girls. ScienceGrrl has lots of male supporters – and Prof Brian Cox is one of them.

Brian kindly donated his time in October to deliver our inaugural ‘Because Science is for Everyone’  lecture. Just before the lecture, he signed five of his books, donated by Blackwells. So, for our inaugural Christmas Prize Draw, we have one copy of each of the following books to raffle:

  • Wonders of Life
  • Wonders of the Universe
  • Wonders of the Solar System
  • The Quantum Universe: Everything that can happen does happen
  • Why Does E=mc2? (and Why Should We Care?)

They have all been signed by Brian, see example here:

Tickets cost 50p each – all proceeds will be used to fund ScienceGrrl’s work in 2014. More on that in a blog post from our Director, Dr Heather Williams, soon!

We will be drawing the 5 lucky winners out of a virtual hat using science wizardry (i.e. an anonymised spreadsheet and a random number generator) on Thursday 12th December and will notify you by email if you have won, telling you which book you’ve won and asking where you would like your book to be posted to  – UK postal addresses only!  You’ll need to respond promptly so we can get them packed up safely and posted out by the 17th, so they should get there in time for Christmas! If you ask nicely, Heather might even gift-wrap your book for you.

The raffle has now ended

Small print: After buying the tickets you will receive a confirmation email and a registration email from us for the “event” and a confirmation email from Paypal. You will only be sent 1 ticket no matter how many prize draw tickets you have bought and there is no need for you to print this out. The ticket has a map and directions on it – please ignore these! as no ‘event’ is actually happening  The purchasers of the first 5 ticket numbers selected will be e-mailed and offered one book each in the order listed above, it is not possible for you to select which book you will win in the draw. We are unable to offer refunds.
